Wonder Years star unrecognisable as she shares holiday snap 35 years after show

Wonder Years star Danica McKellar looked a million miles away from the character that made her famous 35 years ago.

The actress, now 48, posed in a skimpy two-piece leopard print swimming costume as she enjoyed a getaway with her family in Costa Rica. She showed her toned and tanned physique as she posed with one arm in the air and the other on her hip in the water in front of a waterfall. Her dark tresses fell over her shoulders as she opted for black sunglasses to protect herself from the glaring sun.

She captioned the post: "Costa Rica photo dump!! My family and I had a wonderful time and many adventures! Swimming, snorkelling, waterfalls, horseback rides, rainforest walks (that tree frog looks like a National Geographic - but that was taken on my phone!), and more.

"And that very last shot at the waterfall? Shout-out to @glebsavchenkoofficial for teaching me dance arms - if you wanna get better at something, you practice wherever you are!"

The images comes 35 years after making a name for herself as the teen Winnie Cooper on the famed US sitcom Wonder Years. She continued to say she was "super grateful" for the chance to make beautiful memories with her family and wished her followers to enjoy their own adventures, either far away or at home.

In Wonder Years, which ran from 1989 until 1993, Danica's character was able to play the lovestruck Kevin (Fred Savage) along as he bowed to her every move. – on a string throughout all six series and teenage girls growing up with the iconic series wanted to be her.

Despite her rising stock following six years on the show, Danica opted for a career away from the spotlight of the small screen. She went to UCLA University and showcased her brilliant maths skills. She has since had the odd acting role, but also released maths books, including Kiss my Math. Danica also hosted a series of online maths tutorials called Math Bites.

She is currently married to lawyer Scott Sveslosky and has an eight-year-old son called Draco from a previous marriage.
