Tourists at a Parkdean Resorts holiday park have "been unable to use the toilet" due to a water outage.

Guest can't cook food or wash their dishes at the Cresswell Towers site in Northumberland either, as Parkdean investigates the issue. Lorraine Lowrey, who has visited in a party of five adults and two kids, says it has "absolutely ruined" the holiday.

Speaking yesterday, the 46-year-old nurse, of Newcastle, told Chronicle Live: "Well, we can't go to the toilet, it's absolutely ruined it (the holiday). It's the school holidays, the kids are upset, we can't get a shower after we've been on the beach. You cannot wash the dishes, you can't cook, there's no food on site."

Lorraine, who said guests were "going mad" in reception, continued: "They've stopped serving food tonight (Saturday) because they can't wash the dishes because there's no water." Lorraine's party of seven was given eight small bottles of water on Saturday. The guest was also unhappy about Parkdean's communication about the issue.

Yesterday, Cresswell Towers said it was doing everything it could to resolve the problems. Issues with water pressure started on Friday but worsened by Saturday, it added. A spokesperson for the holiday park, one of 66 Parkdean Resort sites across the UK, said: "Unfortunately for reasons out of our control, we have experienced a water outage at the park.

"We are doing everything we can to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. We have apologised to guests for the inconvenience, providing free bottled water as well as gestures of goodwill."

Formed in November 2015 through the merger of Parkdean Holidays and Park Resorts, Parkdean Resorts is the largest holiday park operator in the UK with dozens of sites across England, Scotland, and Wales. It invested some £140 million into its parks in the UK in 2021 and 2022.
