Detectives say the body of a man who vanished six years ago has tragically been discovered miles away in another county.

Nigel Kedar disappeared in 2017 from his home in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, after he was last seen in Norwich on April 2. Police investigated the disappearance of the then 52-year-old but sadly found no sign of his whereabouts.

The search tragically ended last month when Mr Kedar was discovered in a village in Suffolk, Essex Live reports. The body has been confirmed to be that of the missing builder.

Essex Police probed his disappearance alongside detectives in Norfolk, after a sighting of Mr Kedar was reported outside a shop in the village of Long Stratton on April 4, 2017. The 52-year-old was not seen again, and the following year Norfolk Police announced the case had gone cold, citing a lack of any new leads.

The force has now confirmed Mr Kedar's body was found in Mendlesham, Suffolk, in June. His death is now being investigated and treated as unexplained, with no suggestion at present whether it may be suspicious.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We can confirm a body was discovered in Mendlesham. Police were called on June 8, 2023 after a member of the public found a body near to Norwich Road, Mendlesham.

"The body has been formally identified as missing 52-year-old Nigel Kedar, from Clacton, who was last seen outside a shop in Long Stratton on the morning of April 4 2017. His death is currently being treated as unexplained."

Since his disappearance, Mr Kedar's family set up a page called "Find Nigel Kedar" where they posted about how much they missed him. In 2018, they wrote: "Every day I think of where you could be."

The page added: "It's such a tragic mystery for everyone who knows and loves you and even for those who have never met you. I just hope you are ok wherever you may be and that a kind peace is with you."
