Real Housewives of Potomac star Gizelle Bryant has taken to Instagram to share that her dad has died in an emotional post.

Curtis Graves, who was a famed civil rights activist who even rubbed shoulders with Martin Luther King Jr., has died at the age of 84, she confirmed.

Taking to Instagram to share a sweet family snap, Gizelle wrote a touching caption which announced the sad news. The reality star penned: "Thank you for being the best Dad that a little girl could ever want or need. I will miss you everyday of my life," complete with some red heart emojis.

No further information surrounded Curtis' death was revealed, nor was the cause.

Gizelle's father, who was born in New Orleans, was a member of the Texas House of Representatives from 1967 to 1973. He was a Democrat. Reports say that he was one of three African-American members elected in 1966, with this also marking the first time this happened since the 1800s.

Curtis even worked with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., with him said to be a huge figure in the Civil Rights Movement. There is even a snap online that shows the two men sat beside one another. Gizelle even shared the snap back in 2016 and gushed over how "proud" she was.

Not only this, but he was a businessman too and attended both Texas Southern University and Princetown University, with him also working for NASA during his career. Curtis worked in the Academic Affairs Division at NASA, with him soon becoming a Director at the company for Civil Affairs.

It is reported that he stepped down from his position in the early noughties, with him then making a career U-turn to work in photography as an artistic photographer.

Gizelle's daughter, who is Curtis' 18-year-old granddaughter, has also paid tribute to her late granddad like her mum. Grace took to Instagram to share a story which comprised of a snap that saw her posing with her granddad at her high-school graduation.

As well as her daughter Grace, Gizelle has another two children, 17-year-old twins, Angel and Adore.

The glamorous mum of three, is known for appearing as a recurring cast member on the hit Bravo show, Real Housewives of Potomac.

In a conversation with Bravo in 2020, Gizelle spoke about her dad and his legacy, with her saying: "My dad was very involved with the Civil Rights movement years ago in Houston. For my daughters, this is third generation. My dad was working 60 years ago and he worked with Martin Luther King. For me, my second job out of college was working for the national headquarters of the NAACP and now it's my daughters."
