Kate Middleton's key trick to make sure she's not recognised on secret trips
Kate Middleton makes trips out on her own to museums using a special trick to ensure she doesn’t get noticed, claims a royal expert.
The Princess of Wales is one of the most recognised people in the world, regularly capturing the limelight along with William at royal events but she does have a hack that allows her to enjoy some free time out and about unnoticed. When members of the Royal Family appear in public, it is usually for a scheduled or official event - but they are only human after all and enjoy being as normal as possible when they can.
Kate is known to have a love of art and royal author Tina Brown said that she heads out to museums and art galleries on her own away from the media glare by going early in the morning. She would set off to be there for around 8am and so before members of the public had arrived.
Writing in her book, The Palace Papers, Ms Brown stated that Kate's solo outings are done to "nourish her inner life" as well as allowing her to get out freely and doing some of the things she enjoys. Although the tricks work in Kate's favour, she was once spotted out-and-about at a David Hockney exhibition at the Royal Academy by a surprised royal fan.
The royal reportedly told the fan: "I miss my history of art. It's what I do to get my fix," reported the Express. Kate, 41, studied art at the University of St Andrew's, graduating with a 2:1 in 2005. With Prince William also a student there at the same time, the university was where Kate's royal love story began.

To mix in with her passion, Kate is also particularly fond of sketching and is credited as a talented artist. She put her artistic skills to good use for her sister Pippa's wedding in May 2017. The talented royal drew St Mark's Church, where the ceremony was held, on the front cover of the order of service.
Kate's brother-in-law James Matthews praised the royal, by making note of her "beautiful" drawing at the ceremony. Then in 2018, Kate used her knowledge to select photos for the National Gallery's Victorian Giants: The birth of art photography exhibition.
Meanwhile, Prince William graduated with a Scottish Master of Arts degree in geography from St Andrews University and he had away of avoiding too much attention while he was studying. It was agreed that the prince would be afforded complete media privacy during his studies so that he could be as normal as possible.
While coverage was kept to only a handful of rare and agreed upon photoshoots, William came up with an additional tactic to secure even more secrecy. As he had enrolled under the already normal name of 'William Wales', the prince decided to go one further and come up with a fake name Steve that he would use to deter any unwanted attention.
