Dolly Parton snubbed by Mick Jagger due to her 'unreciprocated' crush
Dolly Parton revealed her decades-long crush on Mick Jagger, and according to a New York photographer, it might be the reason he's not appearing on her upcoming album.
The country singer is releasing Rockstar, her first album in the rock genre, in November. The album will feature both original songs and covers performed with various rock icons. She's enlisted the likes of Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty and Steven Tyler to record some of their most beloved numbers with her.
Dolly begged the frontman of The Rolling Stones to perform the band’s classic (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction on the album, but she "never got him," as she confessed.

He claims to have witnessed the two icons' first meeting on 14 May 1977 and that it was awkward. He photographed the two in a never-before-seen picture that he has released to Daily Mirror, Dolly presses herself against Mick. Her mountainous blond wig cascades over his shoulder but he keeps his hands clasped in front of him.

"Towards the end of the show I’d seen Mick Jagger kind of sneak in undetected and he managed to make himself invisible near the kitchen and nobody else saw him," Tannenbaum said.
He continued: "A lot of people left at the end of the show but I was still hanging out and I saw him go backstage. I was a regular at the club and they let me backstage as well and I followed him.
"My guess is it was his first meeting with Dolly because it wasn’t like he was saying, ‘How are you doing?’ I got off the first frame in 10 seconds of her standing next to him and then I said, ‘Can you do something with a little more excitement?’ and she grabbed him and put her arm around his neck," he continued, "She is not tall – not as tall as Mick (who is five ten to her five feet) – but she pulled him tight and you can see in the picture he’s being squeezed a little bit."

The photographer adds that to the best of his knowledge, Mick politely kept his distance from Dolly later that evening. "There was an after-party for her show at Windows on the World, the World Trade Centre restaurant," he says, "I photographed her there with celebrities like Andy Warhol and John Belushi. But I didn’t see her with Mick."
Dolly has been married to Carl Dean since 1966, and was largely inspired by him to do the album, saying: "I did a lot of the songs he loves, because he’s the rock ‘n’ roller."
She was sad that Mick turned down the feature because Carl "loves him".
Mick made a polite excuse when she approached him about the feature. "I wanted him to sing on (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, but he wanted something new and different, which I don't blame him for," she said.
