Jake Paul has detailed how issues moving his training camp from Puerto Rico to Dubai for his fight with Tommy Fury contributed to him suffering his first loss.

The YouTube star and professional boxer has been based in Dorado, Puerto Rico for his last few fights, but felt it was necessary to acclimatise to the dessert conditions of Saudi Arabia by completing his camp in the Middle East last time out. He based his entire operation, including camera crews and his entourage, in the region, moving out of his custom-built home gym set-up.

Ultimately, he looked off the pace throughout the night when he finally met Fury in the ring, and was unable to get going until it was already too late. He scored a late knockdown to almost snatch the result, but ended up losing a split decision that forced him back to the drawing board.

"Whenever I'm not here [in Dorado] and I'm trying to train and just don't have my routine, it's not as powerful," Paul told UFC star Bo Nickal on his show Bo Gets Betr. "I learned that in my last fight trying to do a camp out of Dubai, it was cool but when you don't have your home feelings, it's even little things.

"I'm like missing my dog, I'm in Dubai and I don't have my dog and those little things, neurologically and neurochemicals thing of releasing oxytocin and dopamine that makes you feel at home can help you rest better. So then you train harder, all these little things I'm learning, but this is a really cool environment.

Paul has since returned to his training camp, but with a brand new team that he has put together, including a different coaching setup after parting ways with long-time trainer BJ Flores. He will look to show off the results of that change next month when he faces UFC legend Nate Diaz in his ring return.

"I lost and it was because of xyz mistakes outside of the ring," he explained. "And my team and all these different things I was able to change. I learned from all of those mistakes to get better now vs what was the whole problem; me winning, putting all these people on the canvas, 'knockout of the year', $10million, $30million, all this money and s***.

"You get comfortable and there were so many lessons in the loss and so many things that I needed to change that now I've done that and learned from to make me a better man and a better fighter. So I thank Tommy Fury for beating me and the universal plan has always been in my favour.

"I believe that if you are a good man with a good soul and have a good heart and are a good person, then life rewards you. For that reason the universal plan has always been in my favour and my friend said to me the other day when I just bought a new house and we're sitting there just looking at it he goes 'bro, God loves you'."
