Fortnite players are reporting a stuck on connecting screen bug which has cropped up for a number of players after the latest patch.

Fortnite's stuck on connecting screen bug has been a long-running issue for the game – typically showing up as an issue in the aftermath of a patch launch. Unsurprisingly, Fortnite Update 25.20 has caused the Fortnite stuck on connecting screen bug to rear its head for a number of players once again.

As with most bugs like this one, there's not much rhyme or reason to when or why it'll show up. Some players will have this issue show up once out of the blue and never again, whereas others may get it once a week. Because of the number of variables, there's a number of ways to fix it, we've included some solutions that have worked for us in the past below.

How to fix the Fortnite stuck on connecting screen bug

There's a few ways to fix this bug, we're going to run down the list starting with the ones that take the least amount of time and effort.

Check if the servers are down

The first thing you should do if you're experiencing the Fortnite stuck on connecting screen bug is check the Epic Games status website. There's a section dedicated to Fortnite on this page with entries for a number of different parts of the game like Matchmaking and Game Services. These should all be listed as operational in green text, otherwise you'll just need to wait until the game is working as intended.

Wait

It sounds silly, but as someone who has encountered the Fortnite stuck on connecting screen bug. I simply waited on the loading screen for a while and then eventually spawned in after everyone had left the battle bus and it reached the end of the map. Give the game about two or so minutes to load through the lobby and battle bus process and you may have the same luck as I did.

Restart Fortnite

The classic method of 'try turning it off and back on again' is legendary for a reason. It may sound simple but sometimes simply closing the game and restarting it is all you need to sort this issue.

Restart your PC / Console

Remember what I just said about turning it off and on again, if doing that for the game doesn't work, a full reset of your PC or Console has been known to fix this issue too.

Uninstall and Reinstall Fortnite

The longest – and most annoying – solution to this issue is to uninstall the game and reinstall it. Since this glitch typically shows up after an update, there's a chance that something has went wrong with your game client. Obviously this is a pain and will result in you not being able to jump on the game for a while – depending on your internet speeds – but it typically works as a last ditch effort.

If none of the above fixes work for you it's time to get in contact with the Epic Games support team to see if they can assist your problem, it'll likely take longer to sort than the other methods on this list, but it's the only one that's guaranteed to work every time.
