CBS Sports has unveiled its announcer lineup for the upcoming 2023 NFL season, and it includes the addition of three-time Defensive Player of the Year, JJ Watt.

The former defensive end, who retired from football last year, will be joining as an analyst on NFL Today. Watt, 34, spent two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals after a decade-long tenure with the Houston Texans. Amid reported competition from NBC and NFL Network, CBS emerged as the victor in securing Watt's services.

Expressing his excitement on Twitter, Watt said: "It really is a great opportunity I'm very much looking forward to...talking NFL with you fans this fall. Hopefully [I can] give me some knowledge, a little experience, and some laughs along the way. It's going to be a lot of fun."

Returning for their seventh season together, Jim Nantz, Tony Romo, and Tracy Wolfson will continue as CBS' primary NFL announcers, reports the Express US. The trio will be calling CBS Sports' marquee game each week, including Thanksgiving and Christmas games, as well as the AFC Playoffs and the AFC Championship Game.

CBS' second announcer team will consist of Ian Eagle, Charles Davis, and Evan Washburn. Kevin Harlan, Trent Green, and Melanie Collins will also be paired together, along with Spero Dedes and Adam Archuleta.

Tiki Barber, a seasoned NFL TV veteran, will be entering his fifth season as an announcer and will see an increased role within CBS' NFL schedule. Barber will be working alongside Andrew Catalon, former NFL MVP Matt Ryan, and reporter AJ Ross.

Chris Lewis is making his debut as part of CBS' NFL coverage, calling his first games. Joining Lewis will be Super Bowl LIII champion Jason McCourty and Ross Tucker, who will be serving as an analyst for the first time on the broadcaster.

James Lofton, Tom McCarthy, and Jay Feely round out CBS' full-time announcers, while Beth Mowins will be calling select games. The team of Tiffany Blackmon, Amanda Guerra, and Justin Walters has joined Amanda Renner and Aditi Kinkhabwala as game reporters.

Watt will be making appearances throughout the league season. The 34-year-old recently announced he had invested in Premier League club Burnley with his wife Kealia.
