Two couples in the villa escape the first round of public votes after challenge
Two lucky Love Island USA couples are free from public vote for first time in Love Island history after an exciting twist in an all-new episode Tuesday.
In a trivia game challenge hosted by Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix, the couples were tested on how well they can remember facts about each other from family details to personal sexual questions. In the eighth episode of the fifth season, Madix made the announcement that the winner will not have to face the public vote and cannot be kicked off the villa in the first round.
Gameshow host Madix shockingly explained in the introduction: "Since I can be a little extra now and again, so is this game. Tonight's winning couple will win a prize that has never ever been given out on Love Island history. And I should know, I've literally seen every episode. The winning couple get to avoid the first public dumping."
After winning multiple rounds, the thrilling gameshow finally came down to two couples: Hannah Whitney and Marco Donatelli versus Destiny Zammarra and Harrison Hans Luna.

For the same question, Destiny Zammarra incorrectly answered 'big shirts on me' to which Harrison Hans Luna's answer was "boobs."

After this win, Madix created an additional twist that the winning couple is able to choose one other couple in the villa to be saved from the first round vote, to which Hannah Whitney and Marco Donatelli voted for fellow couple Anna Kurdys and Leonardo Dionicio.
At the end of the episode, Marco said: "We chose this couple because I feel that they are new to the relationship and from the start I saw a spark. I think that they can go on this journey together and come out and grow together and as individuals."

(Peacock)Hannah added: "I think that because it is so new they deserve a fair shot of still getting a chance to develop their spark. We just want to give them the chance to do that."
The premise of the show is for the islanders to couple up with another Islander, whether it be for love, friendship or survival, as the overall winning couple receives $100,000. And every round couples can be voted off the island by viewers. But now, these four participants are safe from the first round of votes.
