Meghan Markle 'thought she would be top dog' over Kate Middleton
Meghan Markle's ex-pal has claimed that the American royal believed that she would land Kate Middleton's role as 'top dog' after she married Prince Harry.
Lizzie Cundy, who first became friends with the Duchess of Sussex in 2013 at a charity dinner, alleges that the former Suits star wrongfully assumed she'd one day outshine the Princess of Wales.
Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, Lizzie, 55, addressed rumours Meghan and Harry are heading for a divorce and shared her opinion on the couple's relationship.
She said: "I don't want to see any couples split up when any marriage falls apart it's sad, especially when you have children.

She didn't want to put the hard work in opening hospitals and doing all the roles that royals do, it's not easy it's not glamorous, it's not like on the red carpet. I think Meghan thought she was going to be the top dog star of the show and Princess Kate was always going to have that role."

Cundy's blunt comments echo similar remarks she made to Grazia in 2021, which included her statement that the Duchess was "open" that "she wanted fame".
Earlier this week, reports swirled online that Harry and Meghan, who married in 2018 and now live in California, was now 'taking time apart'. An inside source has since denied the rumour, however, telling Page Six, "It's not true. It's literally made up."
Rumours of a split began on social media earlier this month, when a tweet began circulating claiming Meghan has “filed divorce papers asking for $80 million plus the total custody of Archie and Lilibet.” DeuxMoi, an Instagram gossip account, also ran an anonymous tip in recent days claiming the couple had “sold their mansion in Montecito” and Harry was “living in another place.”
"It's not true. It's literally made up," an insider close to Meghan and Harry told Page Six on Wednesday, putting the rumours to bed.
The Sussexes have suffered a series of professional setbacks over the past few months, including the termination of their £15million deal with Spotify in June. The US audio streaming platform confirmed that it would not be renewed Meghan's podcast, Archetypes, which launched in August 2022 and ran for 12 episodes.
Meghan and Harry moved from the UK to California shortly after they made the controversial decision to step down as senior working royals in 2020. Since then, they have delivered several bombshells including allegations of racism within the Royal Family, and claims that Harry was "cut off financially" by his dad, King Charles.
