Prince Harry could be welcomed back by Brits if he splits from his wife Meghan Markle, according to her former friend.

Recently the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been surrounded by nasty split rumours as reports have speculated that their romance is on the rocks. A friend of the couple has hit back at the rumours and said they're "literally made up". Sources claimed that the former military serviceman and the former actress who married in 2018 have been living separate lives.

It was claimed that Harry had a room kept for him at a nearby hotel and have drifted due to Meghan spending a lot of time in central Los Angeles. The couple were said to have been "taking time apart", but a source has said this is completely false. "It's not true, it's literally made up," they told Page Six.

Speaking to the Mirror, Meghan's former pal Lizzie Cundy believes a possible split could work in Harry's favour if he and Meghan made the decision to separate. She said: "I think it will be a lot better for Harry. If he does come back here he would be welcomed with open arms. Don't forget it was our most popular royal once upon a time and the people who would welcome him with open arms, I really think it will be the best thing for Harry. Of course, it's going to be very sad and it's sad for the children. But it's time for Harry to come home."

Lizzie added: "I do believe Megan thought it was all about diamonds, jewels, tiaras and being the star of the show but it's not about that being a royal and Princess Kate was always going to be the top dog!"

Meghan and Lizzie met in 2013 when the latter was asked to sit with the actress at a charity event held by her pal John Caudwell, Meghan allegedly wanted a role on Made In Chelsea and Lizzie attempted to set her up with Ashley Cole.

Addressing the alleged split further, Lizize said: "I don't want to see any couples split up when any marriage falls apart it's sad, especially when you have children. We could all see the writing was on the wall, it's very different when you're a celebrity princess than being a royal princess and frankly Meghan just wasn't up for the job.

"She didn't want to put the hard work in opening hospitals and doing all the roles that royals do, it's not easy it's not glamorous, it's not like on the red carpet. I think Meghan thought she was going to be the top dog star of the show and Princess Kate was always going to have that role."

She added "I think it will be in some respects better for Harry, we've got to look at it from Harry's side he's in California now, he's got none of his friends. He's got no family, he's got a rift with his father and his brother, it must be very lonely at times."

Meghan and Harry moved from the UK to California shortly after they made the controversial decision to step down as senior working royals in 2020. Since then, they have delivered several bombshells including allegations of racism within the Royal Family, and claims that Harry was "cut off financially" by his dad, King Charles. In his memoir, he opened up about losing his virginity and drug use.
