Meghan Markle's ex-pal says 'writing is on the wall for Harry' amid split claims

Meghan Markle's former friend has weighed in on the claims surrounding her marriage to Prince Harry.

In recent days, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been surrounded by nasty split rumours as reports have speculated that their romance is on the rocks. A friend of the couple has hit back at the rumours and said they're "literally made up".

It was claimed that the couple who tied the knot in 2018 have been living somewhat separate lives with Harry often staying at a hotel. Meanwhile, other sources claimed that Harry had remained at home with their two children while Meghan spent a lot of time in central Los Angeles.

The couple were said to have been "taking time apart", but a source has said this is completely false. "It's not true, it's literally made up," they told Page Six.

Now, Meghan's former friend Lizzie Cundy, 55, has weighed in on the drama and claimed that the "writing is on the wall" for Harry.

Speaking to the Mirror, Lizzie said: "I don't want to see any couples split up when any marriage falls apart it's sad, especially when you have children. We could all see the writing was on the wall, it's very different when you're a celebrity princess than being a royal princess and frankly Meghan just wasn't up for the job.

"She didn't want to put the hard work in opening hospitals and doing all the roles that royals do, it's not easy it's not glamorous, it's not like on the red carpet. I think Meghan thought she was going to be the top dog star of the show and Princess Kate was always going to have that role."

Discussing a possible split, Lizzie added: "I think it will be in some respects better for Harry, we've got to look at it from Harry's side he's in California now, he's got none of his friends. He's got no family, he's got a rift with his father and his brother, it must be very lonely at times."

Meghan and Lizzie met in 2013

The pair met in 2013 when Lizzie was asked to sit with the actress at a charity event held by her pal John Caudwell, Meghan allegedly wanted a role on Made In Chelsea and Lizzie attempted to set her up with Ashley Cole.

Initial speculation came shortly after it was rumoured that the couple could be "downsizing" their huge home in Montecito after their podcast deal with Spotify came to an end. The pair moved to California shortly after they made the controversial decision to step down as senior working royals in 2020 in a bid to live a more independent lifestyle.

Since then, they have shared aspects of their lives during a bombshell tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, during which Meghan claimed a member of The Royal Family had made racist comments about their future children. In a Netflix docu-series, Harry claimed he was financially cut off from his family.

He later claimed that he was shunned from taking a private jet from London to Aberdeen to see the late Queen Elizabeth II in her dying hours and instead had to fly on a scheduled flight rather than a chartered flight.
