Shayne Ward is rocking a very different look to his Coronation Street days.

The former soap star, who played Aiden Connor in the ITV soap, has sported a shaved head for years. Even when he first shot to fame when he won The X Factor back in 2005 he kept his hair short.

But far from shaving it off because he is going bald, the 38-year-old has revealed he actually has long curly locks.

Embracing his natural hairstyle, the actor took to Instagram to share a series of new photos showing off his brand new look.

Rocking a curly fringe, he told his 317,000 followers: “My hair is growing and growing and growing and there is nothing you can do about it! #inbetweenstage #hairgoals #curls #crazy.”

As Shayne mentioned his new do is only in the “inbetween stage”, it’s unclear how long he plans to grow his hair or what the end goal is.

But fans seem to like it as Shayne prepares to make a musical comeback nearly 10 years after releasing his last album.

“Loving the curls Shayne,” one fan wrote followed by heart and flame emojis.

“Look at those sexy curls omg. How long does it take u to get those curls like that on point,” asked another.

A third wrote: “Gorgeous look at those curls!” while others swooned over the look.

Shayne has been taking some time out to spend time with his family and he has become a dad-of-two since leaving Corrie in 2015, when his character sadly took his own life.

Off-screen Shayne has got engaged to former Hollyoaks star Sophie Austin and the couple share six-year-old daughter Willow May and son Reign Thomas Austin, who turned one in June.

Earlier this year, The Mirror exclusively revealed that Shayne is keen to impress his kids by announcing a return to music.

He has been laying down tracks in the studio, plans to launch a comeback tour – and is still acting, too.

Announcing 2023 is a big year for him, he revealed plans for his first solo tour in 11 years.

And Shayne will be reunited with former Corrie co-star Catherine Tyldesley – who played his on-screen girlfriend Eva Price – for a new TV show.

Crime drama Good Ship Murder will air on Channel 5 later this year and will be Shayne’s first lead role in a big TV series.

He said: “This year is going to be a big year for me. I’m releasing new music, headlining my first solo tour in 11 years and starring in my first lead role in a big TV series.

“It just feels like now is the right time to focus on my music career and show people what I have been working on. I see it as more of a return than a comeback.

“I’m 39 this year and in such a beautiful place – I am engaged to an incredible woman and have two beautiful kids. I want them to see me on stage and to see what Daddy can do.”

Tickets for Shayne’s live shows are on sale now. Channel 5 drama Good Ship Murder will be screened in September.
