Kylian Mbappe has received a contract offer on a par with Cristiano Ronaldo to move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal this summer.

Mbappe will not sign the one-year contract extension in his PSG contract meaning that his deal will expire in 12 months. Mirror Football understands that the French club’s priority is to ensure he does not leave without a transfer fee, meaning they are prepared to cash in on the superstar this summer.

The French superstar has confirmed that he intends to remain at the Ligue 1 champions beyond this summer but it is understood that PSG will push for his exit as they are aware that the alternative is missing out on a landmark transfer fee entirely. That has led to somewhat of a stalemate with the player.

Real Madrid have been firm favourites to sign the striker for several years but have been unsuccessful with their pursuit of the Frenchman to date. Mbappe was excluded from PSG’s pre-season tour as the situation becomes increasingly complicated and an exit appears ever likely.

Al-Hilal – one of the four Saudi Pro League clubs owned by the Public Investment Fund – are believed to have offered Mbappe a €200million (£173m) per year salary to tempt him to play in Saudi Arabia. That would equal their top salary, which Al-Nassr are paying Cristiano Ronaldo, who arrived in January.

This contract would be provisionally a two-year deal but would be sweetened by allowing a ‘Real Madrid exit clause’ after 12 months, while PSG would be able to recoup the £170million transfer fee they spent on the striker from Monaco six summers ago.

Real Madrid are yet to sign a first-choice striker after Karim Benzema confirmed his exit earlier this summer to join Al-Ittihad. The Spanish giants have signed experienced striker Joselu from Espanyol, but he is the only recognised senior No.9 in their squad and is not expected to be first choice.

Alongside Benzema’s exit, Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio and Mariano Diaz have all left Carlo Ancelotti’s squad this summer. Despite their public stance of not being in the market for Mbappe, their private one is that he is now a priority arrival.

Mbappe has developed into a superstar at PSG, bagging 212 goals across six seasons at the Parc des Princes – but appears to be increasingly pushing for a move away from the Ligue 1 champions.
