EastEnders bosses have been so impressed with Patsy Kensit that they have brought her back for a second time.

The actress, 55, who plays tragic Lola Pearce’s mum Emma Harding, left Walford in March after struggling to cope with her daughter’s terminal illness.

She briefly returned in June for Lola’s emotional funeral – but show sources revealed Patsy, who has also appeared in Emmerdale, has been back this week.

One insider said: “Patsy has been back in Albert Square filming on multiple occasions this month – so it seems fans have not seen the last of Emma.

“Patsy has really impressed the bosses, and is a big hit with the rest of the cast. She loves the show too, so she was thrilled to be asked to return as Emma.

“She, like audiences, had thought her cameo appearance at Lola’s funeral was her last on the Square.” Lola, played by Danielle Harold, was at the centre of one of the BBC soap’s most emotional storylines last year after she developed a brain tumour.

Lola’s mum Emma, who abandoned her when she was just three, arrived in Walford after Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) hunted her down. But their family reunion was short-lived after Lola’s husband Jay (Jamie Borthwick) told Emma to either stick around for good or leave… and she left.

Lola’s cancer storyline saw actress Danielle, 31, win Best Leading Performer at the British Soap Awards, while EastEnders picked up the gong for Best British Soap.

Mum-of-two Patsy said she had an “awesome experience” on EastEnders, writing on social media: “Cannot thank my amazing cast members [enough] for being so kind and loving to me.

“Big thank you to the BBC, the producers, writers, crew and the EastEnders family…Jamie and Danielle for making me laugh my a**e off everyday. I love you both… Emma Barton … so so many people.”
