Liverpool have already enjoyed a busy transfer window this summer, with Jurgen Klopp overseeing a major midfield revamp.

James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all departed Anfield on free transfers, while Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have been signed from Brighton and RB Leipzig respectively. However, Liverpool's midfield turnover will not stop there.

Clubs from the mega-rich Saudi Pro League are interested in a number of Liverpool's other midfielders and more movement is expected before the window slams shut on September 1. Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Liverpool transfer news.

Henderson edges closer to Saudi move

Club captain Jordan Henderson is set to reunite with his former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard, who is now the manager of Saudi club Al-Ettifaq.

Liverpool have agreed to sell Henderson for a fee of £12m plus add-ons, with news of his impending move coming after he was left out of the squad for the Reds' pre-season friendly against Karlsruhe on Wednesday.

Fabinho is also set to join Henderson in making the move to Saudi Arabia. Al-Ittihad are hoping to sign him for around £40m and the Brazilian did not even make the trip to Germany for Liverpool's pre-season camp.

Liverpool urged to sign Phillips

Liverpool legend Steve McManaman believes his former clubs should try and sign Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips as a replacement for Fabinho.

Phillips has struggled for regular game-time at City and McManaman believes the England international would be a good signing for Liverpool. "If Liverpool lose Fabinho, then I believe that Kalvin's name would come into the mix," McManaman told Betfred.

"He's English, he's an England international, he plays in that role and I don't believe that Manchester City would expect a club to break the bank for him. There may be a deal there to pursue and if Jurgen Klopp is to lose a defensive midfielder this summer, then a move for Kalvin could certainly be an option, but it all depends on whether Manchester City would be willing to let him go to a Premier League rival."

Verratti contact made

According to French outlet L'Equipe, Liverpool are exploring a potential move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.

The report states that the Reds are one of two Premier League clubs who have made contact with PSG about signing the Italian international. The Ligue 1 giants will reportedly demand £69m for Verratti, whose current contract runs until 2026.

Verratti has also received a big money offer from a Saudi Arabian club, while Mirror Football reported back in May that City were interested in signing the 30-year-old as a potential replacement for Ilkay Gundogan.
