Corrie's Darren actor has been on soap before in huge scenes with Jim McDonald
Coronation Street aired the arrival of new character Darren Vance this week, who is set to feature in a big new storyline involving Dev and Aadi Alahan.
The businessman and his wife Courtney Vance will be seen on screen over the coming months with twists and turns ahead. But viewers may recognise Darren actor Ryan Early.
In fact, Ryan is no stranger to soap land and has even been on Corrie before 12 years ago. Ryan's character the first time around featured in big scenes with Jim McDonald after the character returned.
Back in 2011, Ryan played a police negotiator who tried to reason with Jim as he held hostages at a building society, trying to pull off an armed robbery.

Jim was eventually caught for the crime after letting the hostages go, and he was arrested - while Jim went on to appear on the show briefly in 2014 and then in 2018, also contacting son Steve in 2016.
As for actor Ryan, he's now playing a very different role as businessman Darren while it's not been confirmed how long he will stay on the show for.
Ryan may be recognisable to viewers from other shows he has been in asides Corrie, including soaps Emmerdale and Doctors.
The actor also starred as PC Tom Nicholson in ITV's Heartbeat between 2001 and 2002, and has had appearances in The Bill, Casualty, Holby City and The Crown. Other stints on TV include roles in Grantchester and Almost Never.

Explaining the messages she had received on social media, Stephanie spilled that several people have asked her if Courtney is related to Claire Sweeney's new character Cassie Plummer.
Cassie recently joined the show as the estranged daughter of Evelyn Plummer, and the biological mother of Tyrone. Steph revealed that due to both her and co-star Claire being from Liverpool, people have asked her whether Courtney will turn out to be the secret daughter of Cassie.
The actress didn't exactly rule the idea out though, hinting it was possible and that Courtney could be linked to the fellow newcomer.
