Manchester City superstar Phil Foden has backed the Lionesses to bring the World Cup home for England.

Among Sarina Wiegman’s 23-player squad are Manchester City wingers on either flank Lauren Hemp and Chloe Kelly. Both of whom have had the full support of players from the men’s side in a bid for their World Cup glory.

"It's great to have the support of the men's side. It really helps us as well with how big the men's game is, it's only going to help grow the women's game, which is what we want. It's important as a club that we're all one and we're all together and obviously having the backing of the men is fantastic for us,” said Hemp.

One particular England international and City star has been championing the Lioness and their ability to leave Australia and New Zeland with the Women's World Cup.

Phil Foden told Nissan’s Electric Away Days campaign: “They’re going to do it. They're going to do it, straight up.

“Yeah. 100% Honestly, they've got quality,” he added in reply to the question of ‘is ‘it’ coming home?’

Kelly added: “It’s great that the guys are supportive. I think it’s great they come and support games as well. It’s amazing to see. A few of the guys were at the Euro final which is amazing - to have that support is great.”

And while the Lionesses can feel the love and support from home, some 9,500 miles away, there is a sense of harmony in this 23-player squad, as Hemp explained: "One of the things we took from the Euros was how together the squad was and how much we stuck together through the bad times and the good times.

“And obviously we've experienced defeats as a group, but we've experienced a lot of wins and everyone knows now what it takes to win.

“So I feel like that'll be really important with experience we've got in the squad to then take that into the summer and I feel like that's the main thing going into it and it'll hopefully help us win.” added the 22-year-old ahead of their opening game.

England face Haiti in their first group game of three on Saturday kicking off at 10:30 available to watch via ITV1. Then the Lionesses take Denmark on July 28 and China on August 1 to round off the group D fixtures.
