Coronation Street's latest addition Stephanie Davis teased her return to television in a new chat.

It was announced that the 30-year-old joined the long-running show as Courtney Vance earlier this year.

She will be stepping foot onto the cobbles later this week in an affair storyline which sees her having an affair with Aadi (Adam Hussain) behind her partner's back.

Stephanie, who is now sober, previously starred as Sinead O'Connor in Hollyoaks between 2010 and 2015 and in 2018 and 2019. She was fired because she arrived on set "unfit for work".

In a new chat with OK! Magazine, Stephanie opened up about her explosive return to television after going to "hell and back".

She said she spent years "fighting to show” the confident, caring, and reflective woman fans see on TV today.

"When I was in that bad phase, I was suicidal," she said. "I didn’t see a way out. That’s why I love what I do now because I can show people that if I can do it, they can too.

"I can say, ‘This is where I was, and this is what happened, and this is where I am now.’ I can help them through their journey – it’s the gift that keeps on giving."

Earlier this month, the actress said it was "fate" that she landed her dream role on the series.

Revealing the "crazy" coincidences about her landing a role on a show she'd dreamed of working on, Stephanie confessed she was left in tears when she bagged the role.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press, she explained: "It was fate, it's crazy. I took time out to be a mum to my little boy Caben. I told my partner that I needed to get back to work and do what I love again, I said I was gonna get a new agent, and have a fresh start.

"So I applied for a new agent and on that day I went to meet her. She said what do you wanna do, and I said I wanna do Corrie. I went home. It must have been two days later, my cousin was [talking] to me and I said I had this gut feeling, I wanna do Coronation Street.

"As she was speaking the phone started ringing. It was my agent. I answered it and she said, 'You're never gonna believe this. A part has just come up for Corrie and it's been written for you'."
