In an unfortunate mishap, the official MLS account tweeted a photo of Sergio Busquets' ex-Spain teammate Alvaro Arbeloa instead of the former Barcelona player.

David Beckham's side announced the arrival of Busquets on Sunday, 24 hours after confirming Lionel Messi has signed for the franchise. And it may not stop there with former Blaugrana stars Jordi Alba and Andres Iniesta also linked with joining.

The post, intended to welcome Busquets to Inter Miami, featured former Liverpool player Arbeloa kissing the World Cup trophy in 2010. It was later deleted and replaced with an accurate image of Busquets celebrating Spain's victory in South Africa.

Naturally, the incident caught the attention of social media users, who didn't hesitate to share their reactions.

"I was thinking, when did he win so many La Liga titles? Typical soccer people" one Twitter user sarcastically replied..

"They have soccer in their league name. What do you expect," questioned another fan.

Busquets, 35, has signed with Miami until 2025. And he may well make his debut alongside Messi as soon as July 21, against Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup.

"This is a special and exciting opportunity that I'm very excited to take. I'm looking forward to this next step in my career with Inter Miami," said Busquets. "I was impressed by the club when I came with Barcelona last year, and now I'm happy and ready to represent the club myself. I cannot wait to help bring the success that this ambitious club strives for.

Before joining Inter Miami, Busquets spent his entire professional career at Barcelona making 721 appearances - the third most of any player in the club's history. During that time he won 32 trophies, including nine La Liga titles, three UEFA Champions League trophies, and seven Copa del Rey titles.

It's been busy weekend for Miami after also officially welcoming Messi. Following his announcement, Messi said: "I am very excited to start this next step in my career with Inter Miami and in the United States. This is a fantastic opportunity, and together we will continue to build this beautiful project. The idea is to work together to achieve the objectives we set, and I'm very eager to start helping here in my new home."

Miami are rock bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference, with a 12-point gap from the playoff positions. It means Busquets and Messi face quite the task in turning around the team's fortunes.

Despite the attention brought on by club co-owner David Beckham, Inter Miami has yet to succeed in their three-plus seasons in the league. Although that could now change follow a blockbuster couple of signings.
