Victoria Beckham disappoints fans as she confirms she won't join Spice Girls
Victoria Beckham will not be reprising her Posh Spice role to join her fellow Spice Girls at Glastonbury next year.
The girlband are thought to be reuniting at Glastonbury 2024 as they celebrate their 30th anniversary by taking up one of the headline slots at Worthy Farm.
However Victoria has dashed the hopes of fans around the world as she revealed she won't be joining her bandmates as she instead focuses on her fashion label.
The firm confirmation she won't be joining her pals comes as the other four members confirm they are open to touring again. Posh's bandmates Emma Bunton, 47, Geri Horner, 50, Mel Brown, 48, and Mel Chisholm, 49, have all provisionally agreed to tour dates in 2024.
Speaking to The Mail On Sunday, a source close to Victoria has confirmed she won't be joining her band next year despite pleas from fans.
Brooklyn Beckham sparks backlash again with 'Scouse soup' after pasta fiascoA source said: "Glastonbury is possible the coolest gig on the planet but Victoria won't be doing it next year. She has carved herself a career as a fashion designer that she has put blood, sweat and tears into, so singing is something she has to carefully consider."
The source added that Victoria has been "hugely ridiculed" in the past for her singing and that she still looks back with pride on her time in the girlband.
They added: "She looks back fondly on her years in the Spice Girls – they were very special to her – so she hasn't ruled out a one off celebration, maybe, at some point. And Glastonbury are not at all keen on having the group without Posh, it just doesn't have the same pull."
The swift decline from joining her bandmates is an almost U-turn compared to comments made from a source close to her yesterday. The source said: "For the past few years the Spice Girls have still been operating day-to-day as a four but, for the first time in a long time, Victoria is now chipping in and happy to celebrate a landmark 30 years of girl power."
They added: "Their schedules are pretty manic so getting them all in one room at any one time is hard. But over the past six months there’s been more contact as a five than at any time since the 2012 Olympics."
The source also added that Victoria will celebrate her 50th birthday next year falls around the same time as the Spice Girls marking 30 years as a band, which could make it another reason to reprise her Posh Spice persona.
