While many of us would love to spend our days travelling the world in pursuit of adventures and new experiences, few have the sort of bank balance required for such a lifestyle.

Luckily, there are a few tips and tricks you can try to reduce the cost of your flights significantly, as revealed by a "full-time traveller" whose adventures have taken her to 40 different countries and counting.

According to keen solo traveller Abbie, who regularly shares hints and tips about all things globe-trotting, she's found a way to make her travels "10 times more affordable", all thanks to a few pieces of wisdom she's picked up along the way.

First things first, Abbie, who goes by the TikTok username @abbietravelin, advises her followers to book their flights on Tuesday, when she says flights tend to be cheaper.

According to Skyscanner, data appears to back up this claim, with the majority of airlines launching discounts on Monday nights, meaning you can snap up the best offers on Tuesday mornings, making typical savings of between 15 to 25 per cent.

Abbie then went on to urge fellow wanderers against flying out on a Friday or a Sunday. Again, as per Skyscanner, flights tend to be dearer towards the end of the week, or on Mondays, meaning midweek is the best time to aim for.

When booking her flights, Abbie always makes sure to use either a private browser or incognito mode to conduct her search, and she also advises people to "use a VPN before booking and change your country's location".

According to Travel&Leisure, searching for flights in incognito mode most likely won't make a difference, and any significant changes to ticket costs between searches, Scotts Cheap Flights are likely to just be a coincidence.

A number of travellers have however found that changing their VPN can help them save a fair bit of money, with factors such as average income and ticket demand affecting prices dramatically from country to country.

As previously reported by the Daily Express, research shows that people can regularly save an average of £130 per flight by using a VPN, which can make it appear as though you're in any country on Earth.

Finally, Abbie has encouraged people to book their flights one to three months in advance to get the best price possible. According to Going.com one-to-three months beforehand is indeed the perfect time window ahead of domestic flights, but you should aim for two-to-eight months when it comes to international flights.
