Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will have been "disappointed" at being snubbed for an Emmy Award, but they will move on to "focus on future projects".

The couple had been expected to receive a nomination for their Netflix docuseries, in which Meghan and Harry made a number of explosive claims about the Royal Family. Despite being eligible, the show wasn't shortlisted.

According to a PR expert, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will ignore the Emmy snub as they focus on their future careers.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, PR to the stars Mayah Riaz said: "The thing with awards is that there are so many of them. As anyone who is nominated for them (or not) know you'll win some and some you won't get nominated for. C'est la vie.

"Harry and Meghan didn't get an Emmy nomination. It might have been disappointing but that's all it is, disappointing. Not the end of the world.

"Sometimes award snubs, such the Emmy are a bigger deal for everyone other than Harry and Meghan. This has no impact on their career at all."

The PR expert said it's unlikely Meghan and Harry made their documentary in the hopes of winning awards.

"Yes, award nominations and wins would be great but their reasons for doing the Netflix docuseries aren't for these nominations. They have their own reasons for it, which are bigger," Mayah told us.

Despite missing out on an Emmy nomination, Meghan and Harry have been shortlisted for another major award.

Their Netflix series, titled Harry & Meghan, has been nominated by Hollywood Critics Awards in the Best Streaming Nonfiction category.

The couple will be going up against Prehistoric Planet 2, Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss, Rennervations, The 1619 Project and The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy.

Speaking about this award, Mayah said: "Those disappointed by the 'snub' can rejoice that they have been nominated for the Hollywood Critics Awards (in the Best Streaming Nonfiction category).

"There's no doubt that the couple are focusing on future projects and not giving the Emmy snub too much thought."

Meghan and Harry's Netflix documentary was released last December and broke streaming records as it became the biggest Netflix documentary debut, with a total 81.6 million hours watched on its first four days of release.
