Katie Price's terminally ill mum Amy has claimed that while undergoing a lung transplant last year, she died on the table.

The 71-year-old suffers from the terminal condition of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis had a secret lung transplant in November without her two daughters Katie, Sophie and her son Dan knowing in a bid to stop them from worrying.

Amy has previously revealed that she was given a life expectancy of just five years following her diagnosis and stated she believed she would be dead by the time her memoir was released.

Now, she has opened up about her terrifying ordeal after going into cardiac arrest while on the operating table.

Speaking on the Katie Price Show podcast, Amy said: "The next day I went into cardiac arrest and they had to pump me to bring me back," before her daughter Katie asked: "How many times did you die, Mum?"

"Only the once," Amy explained before going on to say she has no recollection of the traumatic experience but was apparently shouting: "I can't breathe, I can't breathe.

"That's because I was filling up with blood and fluid. I was dreaming, thinking 'I've got to survive until 5 O'Clock, I'm hot, I'm sweaty, I can't breathe." Amy claims that she was thinking medical staff wanted to kill her during the surgery and was hoping she would get to 5pm when they finished their shift.

"I thought, 'You know, if I go … Sophie's alright, Kate will sort herself out, Dan's alright… it's okay to go'," she recalled before adding: "I felt everything was falling in place and I could just go."

Amy was diagnosed with the condition in 2017 and has been receiving medical care ever since with Katie explaining in 2021: "My mum's pretty strong, she's accepted it but she's not one of these people who will dwell on it, even though I know it's on your mind," as Amy said: "I haven't given up yet. I've got to accept the fact that I know I'm going to deteriorate."

Speaking to OK! Magazine earlier this month, Amy said: "When I started writing it I thought I would have been dead, touch wood, I'm still here."

Meanwhile, Katie, went on to say: "You're still here and what I love is, because we were all worrying and thinking 'We don't know what's in your book mum', and if you're dead, we're going to have to put up with what you said and now you've survived it, you can put up with it!"
