Armed police have raced to a city street after two men were shot in a suspected botched robbery.

Large numbers of police have been seen patrolling Canons Park in Harrow, North West London after the incident at 6.28am on Monday, which saw the victims left with gunshot wounds.

Images from the scene show the area cordoned off with police tape, with all entrances to the park now closed to the public.

The two men are now receiving treatment in hospital with non-'life-threatening' injuries after being admitted to a major trauma centre.

Three ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer were dispatched to the scene by London Ambulance Service.

No arrests have yet been made and police say they are now pursuing a "number" of lines of inquiry, with the men currently thought to have been victims of a robbery.

Canons Park is close to the London Underground station of the same name, with much of the surrounding area made up of residential housing and schools.

A plain-clothes operation targeted at suspects was conducted at Canons Park underground station by the local policing team back in November after reports of robberies in the area.
