Maya Jama wowed in her very first Vogue photo shoot as she admitted it was a "life dream" which she thought would "never happen".

The Love Island host, 28, stunned in the pics as she shared a teaser of her front cover shoot with her fans. The TV presenter looked gorgeous in the two snaps and wrote a heartfelt piece on what the cover means to her.

Maya revealed she "burst into tears" when she first got the call from the prestigious fashion magazine. She wrote: "Honestly. An absolute madness.

"We shot this months ago & it still hasn’t sunk in.. the cover of Vogue.. little me on my own shot by the greatest to ever do it @stevenmeiselofficial , I burst into tears as soon as I got the call, this was a life dream of mine that I wasn’t sure would ever even happen because it just has never happened, the only other “tv host” (if you can even call her that) that I’ve ever seen on a vogue cover is Oprah which makes it even more wild & coming from where I come from it is just unheard of.

"I don’t even really have the words to express how much this means to me and how surreal everything has felt recently. I’m forever grateful to anyone who has believed in me throughout the years, I’ve been at it since 16 but this feels like it’s only just the beginning."

Maya added: "I sat last night and looked at previous British vogue covers in awe, so many legends and icons, an all I could imagine was my future grandkids getting sick of me telling them their nan was once a Vogue cover girl.

"Cheers to exceeding our own expectations and a lil F you to those “stay in your lane” voices, made my own lane by staying 100% true to myself, no switching up, no compromising & I hope this can encourage anyone who’s watched my journey so far to do the same."

The radio DJ was flooded with praise from her followers and celeb pals as ex Love Islander Faye Winter said: "Vogue suits you." DJ Krystal Klear added: "No one deserves it more. Really proud of you @mayajama x."

YouTuber Tobi Brown wrote: "Superstar," whilst Steph Toms gushed: "Honesty? So f***ing deserved a personality to die for and the outside ain’t to bad either."

Explaining what it was like to be a cover star to Vogue, Maya said: "I was just pinching myself the whole time,” adding: "I didn’t sleep.”

The TV star is currently in the midst of presenting the 10th season of Love Island, having taken on the job after Laura Whitmore stepped down from presenting duties last year.
