Mardi Gras horror as shooter open fires in New Orleans carnival crowd injuring 5
Five people have been shot, including a young girl, after a gunman opened fire during a New Orleans carnival parade.
Bullets started flying as people had gathered on Sunday night as part of the Krewe of Bacchus parade, the New Orleans Police Department have said.
After the shooting the parade was urged to continued to remove it from the crime scene.
WWL-TV reports that in addition to the girl, the NOPD said that the victims included a woman and three men, who were all transported to a hospital.
One of the victims is in critical condition, according to NOPD Chief Deputy Hans Ganthier but he did not specify which victim.

"We were quickly able to apprehend the suspect we believe responsible for this," Ganthier said.
Two guns were recovered, he said, adding that he isn't certain whether there was anyone else involved.
"This is really not something we wanted to see," Ganthier said. "We really wanted this to be a safe Mardi Gras."

An officer said that the parade would resume to "get out of the way" of the crime scene.
One witness told WWL-TV that they heard around a dozen gunshots which sent the crowd running in panic.
The witness added the police had broken up multiple fights in the same area before the shooting began.
The Krewe of Bacchus parade is an annual event that's held the Sunday before Fat Tuesday in New Orleans.
Running since the 1960s it features colorful floats lead by a celebrity who acts as the parade king.

Nieghbouring state Mississippi witnessed its own incident of horrific violence when a suspect went on a shooting spree killing six people, including his ex-wife.
The suspect has been named as Richard Dale Crum, 52, who has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held at Tate County jail without bail.
