Footage of the moment sick gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar was attacked by the distraught dad of two of his victims has re-emerged.

It comes as sources have said Nassar, 59, was stabbed multiple times in prison during an altercation at a federal prison in Florida on Sunday.

The twisted physician was sentenced to over 300 years in jail in 2018 for molesting gymnasts. He is reported to be in a stable condition after the attack at United States Penitentiary Coleman.

During impact statements read by the victims in 2018, anguished dad Randall Margraves asked Judge Janice Cuningham for time alone with their former doctor.

He said: "I would ask you as part of the sentencing to grant me five minutes in a locked room with this demon."

Two of Mr Margraves's daughters were Nassar's victims.

He had to be held to the ground by security present in the court after he was reprimanded by the judge for branding Nassar a "son of a b***h" and then charging at him.

A sympathetic deputy holding him attempted to talk Mr Margraves down as he struggled against the officers holding him on the floor of the courtroom.

He can be heard saying: "Relax sir. Take it easy, buddy. Just relax... I understand. I understand, but stay down."

Crying can be heard in the court during the incident and one of Mr Margraves' daughters is visibly shocked in the moment after her father charged at Nassar.

The lead prosecutor in the case, Assistant Attorney General Angela Povilaitis, was heard pleading with the gallery to avoid following Mr Margraves' example.

Mr Margraves said later: "I did not know the content of the impact statements.

"We went to the podium... in support of the two daughters [who addressed the court today] when I had to hear what was said in those statements and I had to look over at Larry Nassar shaking his head, that's when I lost control.

"I feel very remorseful... this cannot be a lawless society, I know that. I lost control but I regained control later in a holding cell."

Mr Margraves was held in contempt of court, but Judge Janice Cunningham did not sentence him to any jail time.

"I can’t say I understand what it would be like to stand there as father and know that three of your girls were injured physically and emotionally by somebody sitting in the room," Judge Cunningham said.

During his sentencing hearing, Mr Margraves apologised again.

He said: "I have the highest and utmost respect for the justice system. I’d like to apologise to everyone in the courtroom and all the officers, they are fine upstanding officers who had to deal with my outburst.

"I came here to support my daughters, I knew they were going to read a statement, I did not know what was in it, they would not let me see it ahead of time.

"I’ve got to hear that and have Larry Nassar shaking his head no, like it didn’t happen."

"I don’t disagree that as a parent and the victims that you want people held accountable.

"I don’t disagree with that. Use the legal system to do it. Use the system of justice that is here. And there will be the proper punishment.

"But as for the direct contempt of court there is no way this court is going to issue any type of punishment given the circumstances of this case."

Nassar admitted to sexually assaulting athletes when he worked at Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics, which trains Olympians.

Abusing his position of trust, Nassar was accused of sexual abuse by more than 330 women and girls at USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University.

He also pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children.
