Fans of the BBC’s Morning Live have been assured that presenter Gethin Jones will be back on screens on Tuesday morning after taking Monday off to recover from a friend’s wedding.

The 45-year-old presenter was absent during Monday morning’s show, sparking alarm from some viewers who consider the Welsh hunk a fan favourite.

Gethin had been updating fans over the weekend about his raucous private life plans as he helped a friend celebrate their glamorous wedding.

And while the presenter may well have been nursing a hangover on Monday and taking a day off from TV hosting duties, Morning Live fans had a headache of their own as they had to watch the show without the star being on screen.

However, Gethin himself has assured fans he will be back on Tuesday after taking a day off to recover from wedding celebrations.

He had been attending the nuptials and reception of co-star Dr Xand van Tulleken who tied-the-knot with his now-wife Dolly - a policy consultant from London.

Taking to social media on Sunday, Gethin wrote: "Ok. I’ve finally had to give him up! But he’s going to his 'perfect human'. Dynamic @DollyvanT has the biggest heart, she’s kind, a wicked laugh, has an amazing brain and is just 100% fun! So special to be part of their weekend in Verona."

He explained he would be absent from Monday's edition of Morning Live but would be back the day after, adding: "Tmrw is recovery! See you Tuesday."

The official Morning Live Twitter account also made it clear that Gethin was absent from the show - with Gaby Roslin and Michelle Ackerly hosting Monday’s show - as he was taking annual leave.

They wrote online: "Congratulations to @xandvt and @DollyvanT who had their wedding celebration in Italy over the weekend. @GethincJones is back on Tuesday, @MichAckerley and @GabyRoslin will see you at 9.15am tomorrow."

The BBC is enduring a crisis as an unnamed presenter has been taken off the air pending an investigation over immoral practices.

The unnamed presenter has been accused by the mother of a teenager, who claims the well-known star paid the teenager tens of thousands of pounds in exchange for explicit photographs.

It is claimed the teen then used that money to fund a drug addiction, with the distressed parent saying the consider the star to be complicit in fuelling their child’s drug addiction.

Police have now been consulted by the BBC as their investigation continues.

The corporation said in a statement previously: "The BBC takes any allegations seriously and we have robust internal processes in place to proactively deal with such allegations.

"This is a complex and fast-moving set of circumstances and the BBC is working as quickly as possible to establish the facts in order to properly inform appropriate next steps.

"It is important that these matters are handled fairly and with care."
