After serving 14 months of her three-year prison sentence, Allison Mack was released 14 months early on good behaviour.

The Smallville star had pleaded guilty to to her role in the sex-trafficking cult, NXVIM. She has now been spotted for the first time since her release.

On her trip out and about in the Los Angeles area, she was seen by her parents' side wearing a casual outfit. A simple white long sleeve shirt paired with black trousers hide an ankle monitor; Mack is still serving an additional three years of supervised release. In comparison, she originally was facing 17 years in prison for racketeering and conspiracy to commit extortion and forced labor charges.

Mack had cut a deal to get that lower sentence. Evidence supplied by Mack helped, in part, in the conviction of the cult leader, Keith Raniere. He was sentenced to 120 years in prison for sex-trafficking through his organisation NXVIM. As part of the membership in the group, some individuals were branded, starved, and made to perform sexual favours.

As for Mack's role in the case, she has admitted to her leadership role in the operation. She was a part of the recruitment efforts, driving women to have sex with Raniere. Part of this process included holding collateral over the women including nude photos.

NXVIM was masked as a self-help and fulfillment organization, seemingly meaning to help its members reach their full potential as individuals. It was based on a curricula developed by Raniere. Its success as an organization was due to multi level marketing tactics and high financial commitments in exchange for classes.

On a deeper level, NXVIM had a society within it called DOS. Allegedly, as part of initiation into DOS, the female members were branded with the initials of Mack and Raniere. Plus, they were supposedly often subjected to additional physical punishments. It was in this society that Mack was, allegedly, considered a "slave master."

During her trial, Mack expressed regret about her role in NXVIM and DOS. She wrote a letter to the judge where she claimed that she had genuinely believed in Raniere's teachings, but that her part in the cult was the "biggest mistake and regret" of her life.

The letter, obtained by E! News, read: "It is now of paramount importance for me to say, from the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry."
