The iconic setting of Silverstone has hosted some amazing performances in recent years - including Lewis Hamilton winning in wet conditions in 2008, Nigel Mansell chasing down Nelson Piquet in 1987 and Carlos Sainz getting his first GP win in 2022.

With the Northamptonshire circuit playing such an integral part in the sport's history, bet365 embarked on determining who is, quantitatively, the most successful ever driver at the track.

To do this, the team at bet365, in partnership with Better Collective sourced the results of all 57 British Grands Prix held at Silverstone from the official F1 site and assigned the points to drivers as per the system used today. A leader board was created that, quantitatively, adjusted and compared the performances of all 383 drivers to have raced at Silverstone.

And from that analysis, it was the UK’s own Lewis Hamilton who topped the list thanks to his record eight wins at his home race. He’s joined in the top 10 by two other British drivers - Nigel Mansell and David Coulthard.

The seven time world champion is head and shoulders above everyone else, with 312 points from 17 races and the closest to him in our analysis are Kimi Raikkonen and Michael Schumacher with 186 points each, followed by Fernando Alonso who has 158 points.

While Lewis Hamilton may have the experience of winning at Silverstone, it is Max Verstappen who has experienced that winning feeling most this season, with the Dutchman aiming for a sixth straight race.

Verstappen is 3/10 to take the chequered flag on Sunday and 2/9 to land a podium finish.

Off the back of another dominant performance in Austria, Verstappen arrives on these shores with an almost unassailable 81 point lead in the Drivers’ Championship with his third world title almost a given.

Indeed the Red Bull driver is odds-on at 4/5 to win the race AND record the fastest lap.

It is Vertappen’s team mate Sergio Perez who is expected to provide the biggest threat at Silverstone. The Mexican driver is 7/1 to win the race, 4/7 to secure a podium finish and 11/4 to record the fastest lap.
