Man accused of dismembering girlfriend is tied to disappearance of second woman
A man accused of dismembering his girlfriend after a "foul smell" came from her flat is being tied to the disappearance of a second woman
Joseph Jorgenson, 40, allegedly killed 33-year-old Manijeh "Mani" Starren inside her flat in Minnesota after her body was found in a storage unit - more than two months after she was reported missing.
CCTV footage allegedly shows the mum-of-three running from her flat on April 21 at around 6pm after her boyfriend "grabbed her, turned her around, and pushed her back into the apartment," according to police.
St. Paul Sgt. Mike Ernster said at a news conference on Friday: "Jorgenson is the only one that comes out of that unit, and Mani is never seen again.

"He did not report her missing to police. Instead, he just went on with his life without saying anything to anyone."

The nine-page affidavit claims cops found the victim's dismembered body dumped in coolers and bags in a storage unit.
It was also revealed by police that Fanta Xayavong, 33, who disappeared in July 2021, was last spotted with Mr Jorgenson.
"She does have a connection with Jorgenson, and, to put it bluntly, we’re concerned for her safety also," Mr Ernster said.

An investigation into Ms Starren's disappearance began on May 1, after her dad reported her missing and claimed she was "afraid" of her boyfriend.
She allegedly told her son's dad that the suspect had "wrapped a rope around her neck" and neighbours had previously said they had seen her with a black eye and red marks on her body.
It is claimed a neighbour told investigators she had offered to call the cops, but the mum-of-three told her "it will just makes things worse."
And in early April, the suspect allegedly sent threatening and abusive text messages to Ms Starren which included: "Hope u die of a kidney infection b---- c--- terrible f---ing mother."

Mr Jorgenson, who was spotted just days after her disappearance, entered her flat 28 times.
And on April 28, he was seen in CCTV footage carrying two duffle bags and a suitcase from the flat and into a lorry.
Furthermore, cops looked at the suspect's phone and obtained Google data which showed he had searched "jugular," "what do police do with a missing person's report," and "lime for soil," which is used to speed up decomposition.

Cops exercised a search warrant for the flat and found a horrific crime scene which showed large amounts of blood in the living room and kitchen indicating "someone was killed or seriously injured in the apartment."
There was also a cracked TV on the floor, and neighbours began to complain of a "foul smell" in May.

Just days later, the building manager told cops they saw the boyfriend dragging large black duffle bags out of the flat, and it looked like he was "carrying a dead body."
On June 26, cops search the flat when the suspect barricaded himself in his bedroom and started a fire.
The SWAT team forced open the door when Mr Jorgenson allegedly fought with officers and tried to take their guns.
He was arrested and charged with arson, threats of violence and disarming an officer, according to police. He is being held on a $5million bail and is due back in court August 21.
A friend who launched a GoFundMe page to raise money for the mum-of-three's funeral described her as a devoted mother.
"April 21st was the first day of the worst 2 1/2 months this family could be put through," wrote Bre Moinicken.
"Her beautiful three kids have horrifically lost the most beautiful person in their lives."
