America's Got Talent fans furious as show is cancelled in last minute change

America's Got Talent fans took to social media to share their fury upon learning of the show's surprise schedule change.

The America's Got Talent Twitter account shared a tweet which revealed that the show would be cancelled for one week, returning on July 11th, meaning fans would have to wait two weeks for their next entertainment fix.

They tweeted: "We're signing off, but mark your calendars! #AGT returns in TWO weeks."

One fan took to the comments, writing: "2 weeks?! UGH!"

A second guessed that the show had been put on pause for the 4th of July weekend, adding: "No show for 4th of July! When do the Live Shows start?"

Over on Reddit, another fan explained that they found the change "annoying" as they asked for confirmation, typing: "It looks like AGT is off next week and back July 11- is that true? So annoying to wait two weeks."

As the 4th of July is set to fall on a Tuesday this year, AGT's network, NBC is expected to use the show's 8pm timeslot to host Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks.

The news comes after the highly anticipated 18th series kickstarted in June and head judge Simon Cowell remincined on the early days of the American version.

He admitted that he was a bundle of nerves when he brought his Got Talent show to American audiences, revealing that he had no idea how audiences would react to his talent search show, given that they'd only known him as the mean no nonsense judge on American Idol.

"I remember actually it was here (in Pasadena) and I hadn't worked over here for a while. Of course, I'd produced the show and then I remember standing to go into the audience and I remember thinking, what if nobody clapped?" he said.

"Literally that this could be very awkward. So it felt a little bit like being the new kid at school and then the day was just amazing. It was just one of my favourite days. "

Smiling about doing so well for almost 20 years, Simon added: "It's always for me about finding those little gems.

"I always say doing this job, it's like, you know, are mining for diamonds because it's hard to find bona fide superstars.
