Inmate charged with hate crime against transgender double rapist in prison
A notorious double rapist who is undergoing gender transition has moaned about being treated like a "monster" in prison.
Isla Bryson made the claims after an inmate was charged with a hate crime and fumed: "Jail is full of transphobic people".
In a letter sent to the Sunday Mail from behind bars, Bryson says the Scottish Prison Service and the Government have breached human rights laws.
The criminal was convicted of raping one woman in Clydebank in 2016 and another in Drumchapel in 2019. A court had heard Bryson is taking hormones and seeking surgery to complete gender reassignment having felt transgender at four years old.
In the letter to the newspaper, Bryson wrote: “They are breaking the human rights laws. I’m not doing too good because of abuse from the staff members all because I am transgender and other prisoners too.

“This jail is full of transphobic people. The police are involved because of the abuse to do with my gender. People won’t stop being transphobic. Whatever I say you will make me out to be a monster” before adding, “so this way I get something out of it”.

Bryson was found guilty after a six-day trial (PA)In the letters, Bryson, who has three children, promised the "story of a lifetime," before signing it off with a smiley face and her name.
Bryson is currently serving time on the Hermiston wing of HMP Edinburgh, which homes some of the prison's most serious offenders.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On June 8, we received a report of a hate crime at HMP Edinburgh. A 24-year-old man has been charged in connection with threatening and abusive behaviour.”
The Scottish Prison Service and the Scottish Government said they did not comment on individual cases.
