TV presenter Holly Willoughby has skipped out of appearing at the TRIC Awards in London, as This Morning lost out on the award for best daytime show.

The Television & Radio Industry Club awards featured many of the broadcast industry's faces, including Holly's former This Morning colleague Eamonn Holmes.

Just a year ago Holly and former This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield collected the best daytime show, but neither of them was in attendance at the industry awards tonight (Tuesday 27 June).

The ITV programme has been heavily criticised for its 'toxicity' after Phillip Schofield stepped down last month after news broke of his concealed affair with a younger male colleague.

With Holly missing from the TV event, where she stood with Phillip last year and the year before to collect the best daytime show award, it also meant she avoided an awkward run-in with Eamonn Holmes.

Since news of Phillip's affair broke, Eamonn has launched a series of cutting comments about the 'toxic' culture at ITV's This Morning and about Holly and Phillip.

One ITV insider told the Daily Mail: "If you were Holly you wouldn’t have gone, would you? Not only would you have come face to face with Eamonn but you would have had to go through the humiliation of losing out to A Place in The Sun.

"It was all very different to this time last year when Holly and Phil turned up, big smiles on their faces, and were the toast of the do."

Last month Eamonn spoke out on GB News, where he presents a breakfast show, to share his views on the fallout between Holly and Phil as well as Phil's shock exit from the programme he'd presented on for 20 years.

With Holly nowhere to be seen, it was a devastating blow for ITV as Channel 4 picked up the award for best daytime show for its A Place In The Sun.

Her fellow This Morning colleagues were also notably absent including editor Martin Frizell as well as main presenters Dermot O’Leary, Alison Hammond and Craig Doyle. ITV’s head of daytime Emma Gormley, who has also been mentioned in the fallout since Phil's exit, was also absent.

The Mirror contacted Holly Willoughby's representatives for comment.
