The Razer Kraken Kitty V2 is a wired headset which was clearly designed to stand out, with its interchangeable silhouette and interactive RGB which is perfect for streamers, content creators and cosplayers.

But you also get some impressive sound quality, meaning you don’t have to sacrifice performance. The only real downside of this headset is the sheer weight of it. Including the attachments, it comes in heavier than alternatives on the market, but you can get used to it with time, although your mileage may vary.

If you’re hoping to pick up the Razer Kraken Kitty V2 Pro, it comes in at £199.99 / $199.99 / AU$383.95. Despite being quite expensive compared to alternatives on the market, like the Logitech G535 Lightspeed which is wireless and comes in at £119.99 / $99.99 / AU$269.95, this is jam-packed and provides a unique feature, the interchangeable light-up ears, which isn’t available from other options.

Razer Kraken Kitty V2 Pro – Design

This headset comes in either Quartz pink, which matches the rest of the Razer Quartz line, or black. One of the main selling points of this headset is the interchangeable, light-up different ear attachments, you get cat ears, bear ears and bunny ears which all just clip straight up onto the top of the band.

Alongside the ear attachments lighting up, the Razer logo which is present on the outside of both earcups also lights up. The Razer Kraken Kitty V2 Pro has full RGB functionality meaning you can select from 16 million colours in the Razer Synapse software.

You get a detachable microphone and the headset is wired, connecting via a USB connector. There is a microphone mute button present on the left earcup with a volume adjustment wheel next to it.

Razer Kraken Kitty V2 Pro – Features

As this headset is catered to streamers and content creators, a cool feature is the ability to set up stream reactive lighting with the Streamer Companion App. This was super easy to set up and made for a great interactive experience for my stream viewers.

You can also take advantage of the RGB aspect of the headset on the go by using a power bank, which Razer refers to as Cosplay Mode. You can also adjust the RGB lighting to match whatever outfit you’re wearing using the mobile companion app.

Alongside the great aesthetic features that this headset brings to the table, you also get amazing sound quality and THX spatial audio which is amazing for both gaming and also watching movies.

Razer Kraken Kitty V2 Pro – Performance

I have adored using this headset on stream after using the Razer Kitty BT Edition as my personal headset for years. The Razer Kraken Kitty V2 Pro feels like a fantastic upgrade, both in terms of aesthetics and sound quality.

For comparison, it feels like you’re somewhat sacrificing sound quality for Razer’s previous iterations of nicer-looking headsets, including the Razer Kraken Kitty and aforementioned Razer Kitty BT Edition. These allow you to have cute RGB cat ears but have noticeable issues when it comes to sound output, including static, so I didn't have particularly high hopes for the new version.

However, this headset has proven me wrong in testing, with the performance being really impressive. One downside however is how heavy the headset is, coming in at 332g with no attachments and then up to 400g with the bunny ear attachments. You really can feel the weight when gaming or streaming, particularly if you’re used to a lighter headset.

The microphone was okay and gets the job done, but is no where near best-in-class. If you’re a streamer, you’re better off picking up an external microphone if you want to use this headset.

Overall Thoughts on Razer Kraken Kitty V2 Pro

This is a great piece of kit geared towards streamers and content creators, but is likely not the way to go if you’re just looking for a gaming headset with good sound quality. Coming in at £200, you can sacrifice the aesthetics on offer here and pick up a headset with other great features for the same price.

I have started using this headset as my main streaming headset, however, it’s definitely not my go-to when I’m just casually gaming as I prefer wireless and lighter headsets, so stick to my Razer BlackShark V2 Pro.
