Jurgen Klopp has already declared when he will leave his post as Liverpool manager amid relentless speculation he is planning to take the potentially soon-to-be vacant Germany national team job.

The man currently at the helm for Germany is of course former Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick, who is currently under intense scrutiny as a result of a miserable run of form. His side have won just three of their last 11, with the most recent outing coming in the form of a 2-0 home defeat by Colombia.

Having failed to get through the group stages at the Qatar World Cup late last year, some feel as if Flick is on borrowed time. Should he get the chop, many hope that Klopp's head can be turned.

It is widely believed that the German FA view Klopp as their dream appointment, but if the latest comments from the Liverpool manager's agent Marc Kosicke are anything to go by, it looks set to remain nothing more than a dream.

"Jurgen has a long-term contract with Liverpool," Kosicke told Bild. "And [Germany] has a national coach. So it's not an issue for us at all."

Klopp has also previously addressed the speculation surrounding his Reds reign, though not everything can seemingly be taken at face value.

When asked if he'll return to Germany, Klopp told SWR Sport: "Definitely to live, after my career. Most likely even to Mainz".

That may be true, but he was also asked in 2020, shortly after penning a contract extension, for how much longer he will remain in the Anfield hot-seat.

He replied: "Four years in Liverpool."

That would have taken him to 2024, but he has since signed another new deal extending his stay until the summer of 2026. Regardless, Klopp has also openly discussed what his life will look like when he does eventually call time on his Liverpool stay.

The German has stated how he would like to "do nothing for a year", before claiming he may return to management or call time on his career for good.

"In five years the world can look very different again," he said, in a rather cryptic fashion.

Shortly after, he told Kicker magazine: "I have absolute energy. But I have one problem. I can't do 'a little bit'. I can only do 'all or nothing'.

"When I decide that I cannot do it any longer then I will take a break for a year."

For now, Liverpool fans can take comfort in that Klopp has no intention to cut his contract short. It looks as if the plan remains to see out his deal before taking an extended break back in Germany in 2026.
