Arsenal have stopped selling their new shirt after fans spotted a blunder in its design.

The Gunners released their new kit in May with a tribute to the Invincibles season, which marks its 20th anniversary next season. Arsene Wenger masterminded the historic achievement as the north Londoners went unbeaten for the entire Premier League campaign.

The new shirt was set to pay homage to that success two decades on with stitching on the white trim on the side. Their record of 26 wins and 12 draws was supposed to have been stitched into the side of the jersey with each result put in order, but that is where the error looks to have been made.

Several results have been missed off with numerous fans spotting that only 32 of the 38 games have been listed, missing off draws against Birmingham and Portsmouth as well as four victories across the season. The shirt is now no longer available to buy from Adidas or Arsenal via their websites.

Nevertheless, given the cost of the shirt, which is north of £100, fans have had little sympathy for the blunder. One said: "Both of mine only have 32. Bit confusing why they have done this. Surely must be an error by @adidasfootball and @Arsenal." A second claimed: "£110 for that kit should be spot on it’s beyond a joke how they have got it wrong."

On the Arsenal site the shirt is now listed as "coming soon" whilst on the Adidas website fans can only buy the standard home shirt, not the authentic one.

Several fans are awaiting new shirts but the club have emailed fans which, according to The Sun, reads: "We've become aware of a design error with the current 23/24 Authentic Home Shirt. Consequently, we're unfortunately unable to fulfill your order at this time.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and will be cancelling and refunding your order in full. We are currently reviewing when the new 23/24 Authentic Home Shirts will be available, but in the meantime please see our 23/24 Replica Home Shirts which are available now and ready to ship."

Arsenal will be hoping their new shirt is donned by the likes of Declan Rice, whom they're chasing this summer. There is renewed optimism and belief around the Emirates after a stellar campaign that saw Mikel Arteta's side, unexpectedly, finish second and run Manchester City close. They're now back in the Champions League and looking to bolster their options ahead of another challenge.
