Prosecutors allege Mandie Reusch drove the father of her child to suicide

Prosecutors have said a woman drove her ex-boyfriend, a US Army veteran, to suicide with "heinous and graphic" text messages and a video of her having sex with another man.

Texts sent by Mandie Reusch, 35, of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, allegedly enabled her ex-boyfriend Kevin Metzger to take his own life in June 2021.

She is alleged to have told Metzger she hoped he would "burn in hell" and that he and their daughter would "dance on your grave with her real dad".

Reusch is due to appear in court on June 27, charged with aiding suicide, a felony and harassment, a misdemeanour.

Metzger was away at military training when the alleged texts began. Reusch is said to have been at home with the couple's daughter at the time.

The documents said Reusch wrote on WhatsApp: "'I hope for [their daughter's] sake that you do kill yourself. She would be better off not even knowing you."

She told the Army man she planned to move in with another man who would become their daughter's new father.

One message said: "I actually want you to kill yourself because I think you are the worst person on this planet."

Another added: "I will make it my dying wish to make sure you don't see your daughter and that she knows who you really are."

Metzger served a period in South Korea where he worked on the Patriot missile defence system. He reenlisted as a reserve after he left, specialising in water purification.

In 2020, prosecutors claim Reusch told him he wasn't a "real f*****g man" and he encouraged him to "go kill yourself".

Westmoreland County Distric Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli alleged in a statement: "Mr Metzger may still be here today if those messages did not influence and encourage him to take his own life...

"We extend our condolences to the Metzger family for their loss and the grief they have experienced since his death. We will not allow or tolerate this kind of egregious behaviour."

His obituary said: "He had a passion for music and loved the local music scene. He organized bringing back metal music events to the Greensburg area.

"He was a bartender and patron to the local bar scene communities. He was good at troubleshooting and servicing hot tubs and pools."

It added that Metzger "passionately cared for his daughter" and that he was "a devoted father and she was an extreme light in his life".

Reusch, a "booking agent for a multinational alcoholic beverages company", was first charged with harassment in June 2021 after Metzger made a complaint. The charges went away after his suicide.

She deleted WhatsApp from her phone after he died.
