EastEnders' latest Christmas murder clue explained as new arrival to play a role

The EastEnders Christmas murder storyline has progressed with more clues as new arrival appears, which was spotted in the flash-forward episode.

The new addition is said to have "seen it all" and is tipped to play a vital role in the storyline, which was previewed back in February.

The flashforward episode teased a killing over the festive period as six iconic characters were seen towering over a body in The Queen Vic.

On Christmas Day, it has been revealed one male character will be killed off in dramatic scenes - while his identity is not yet known.

Viewers are already desperate to find out who the victim will be, with many noticing 'clues' over recent episodes.

On Monday's show there was another hint, with the arrival of a knight in shining armour at the Vic.

New landlord George Knight is clearly very affectionate of the new fixture as he told Linda Carter it has been in every pub he has ever owned.

Yet Linda was baffled by the new arrival, branding it "creepy".

She also claimed the knight will clash with her "cozy" decor, but still George insisted it remains in the pub.

Even Anna got in on the fun and asked Linda to picture all the stories the knight could tell, as Elaine Peacock joked he will have "seen it all".

"The good, the bad and the unspeakable," added George, with his voice taking a dramatic tone in a bid to leave Linda shaking in her boots.

The knight is sure to stick around to witness the Christmas murder as the flash-forward episode confirmed he will be there.

Linda and five other female characters are at the scene of the crime, and all of them appear to have been caught up in a fight or a struggle.

Denise Fox, Kathy Beale, Suki Panesar, Stacey Slater and Sharon Watts are the other women in the scene, while it's not known for sure if other characters are present.

Any one of them could be the killer, or not, with motives for different victims set to be teased across the year until the death scene on Christmas Day, with all to be revealed then.

The most recent fan theory is that Linda will be the killer this Christmas after something possibly happening between her and George, whether that be an affair or a fallout over her mother Elaine who he is engaged to.

There has also been speculation that George is the victim regardless of who the killer is, after it appeared he was hiding something.

Another clue came when George was confiding in his new pal Phil Mitchell about his family issues, including Linda not welcoming him or his daughters Anna and Gina.

He said: "Now I’ve got two daughters who want to kill [Elaine] and her daughter still wants to kill me," leaving many fans wondering if it was a clue of what's to come.

Executive Producer, Chris Clenshaw teased: “As we saw in the flash-forward scene, there are six women stood over a dead body, which we know is male. Over the next ten months, expect to see each of these women have huge stories, involving potential victims, which will all collide at Christmas.”

EastEnders continues Tuesday June 13 at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
