Popstar Tom Grennan has teased there will be controversial moments as he is set to join the latest series of Celebrity Gogglebox.

The Lionheart hitmaker, 28, has signed up to the hit Channel 4 show alongside his dad.

The father and son duo will make their first onscreen appearance on Friday 16 June alongside celeb favourites Rylan Clark and his mum Linda and Shaun Ryder and his Happy Mondays bandmate Bez.

Tom hopes appearing on the programme will give fans a glimpse into his "real side" but is already a bit fearful of his dad's potty mouth.

When asked what viewers can expect from the pair, Tom told The Mirror at Capital presents Summertime Ball with Barclaycard: "Very funny TV, I think my dad is ready to become a national treasure and I think in his own right, he already is one.

"I think you will get a real side of what me and my dad are like whilst watching TV. We will see what happens."

In response to if fans can expect any controversial comments, he replied: "Probably".

"My dad, the language more than anything," the singer added.

"He is the most Irish man ever. Every other word is the C-word."

Tom will join Royle Family favourites Ricky Tomlinson and Sue Johnston, who are set to reunite on the sofa for Celebrity Gogglebox.

It is more than a decade since their much-loved characters Jim and Barbara last settled down in front of a telly for the BBC comedy.

Gogglebox is voiced by Craig Cash, who co-wrote The Royle Family with Caroline and played Denise’s hubby Dave.

Ricky, 83, said: “When it first aired Gogglebox was called ‘the real Royle Family’ so this is a full circle moment, Sue and I together again, in front of the box!”

Other new faces appearing on the fifth series of Celebrity Gogglebox include Davina McCall with her celebrity hairstylist boyfriend Michael Douglas.

She will be joined by fellow first-timers comedian Katherine Ryan and her husband Bobby plus BBC naturalist Chris Packham with his conservationist step-daughter Megan.

Capital’s 2023 Summertime Ball kicked off early today (Sunday June 11) with a star-studded lineup including The Jonas Brothers, Calvin Harris and former One Direction singer Niall Horan set to perform later this evening.

For those not lucky enough to be at Wembley Stadium, ITV will be broadcasting the best bits on ITV next Saturday, June 17, from 7pm.
