Valorant hot mic bug is creating hilarious goofs and gaffs
A Valorant hot mic bug is making for unintentional hilarity (and some hurt feelings) with the push-to-talk (PTT) mic option being disabled in favour of being on by default.
Riot Games rolled out a Valorant patch this week with update 6.11 that gave Pearl an overhaul, and lifted Chamber out of the mires of mediocrity where he's been languishing in with new buffs that take him back to his days of glory. In the days since the patch went live however, players have discovered a bug that's causing havoc in real life, as opposed to scuppering up gameplay.
The Valorant hot mic bug is exactly what it sounds like; the game's default mic settings are PTT, so you have to push the V key if you want to speak to teammates in the team chat (unless you've mapped the function to a different key of your choice). Press the key and they can hear you. If you're not pushing it, they can't.
So you can safely chatter away to friends, family, or Twitch chat if you're a streamer. And if you're feeling particularly salty, you can trash talk your teammates off-mic to vent your frustrations before you get your head back in the game. But not anymore.
The Valorant hot mic bug turns on your mic by default so you have to toggle it on and off, rather than pushing when you want to share your thoughts with the room. And it's been catching out streamers and players alike with the entire team being subjected to everything going on over on the unlucky players' side.

Examples of the Valorant hot mic bug in action are popping up all over social media, and reactions to the bug are mixed; some players are stumbling into unintentionally hilarious situations and are down for the goofs and gaffs. Others...not so much.
YouTuber WestJett took to Twitter to say that "the Valorant hot mic should be a feature tbh," adding that it helps you identify 'two-faced' players. Fellow streamer Awin agreed, saying that "there should be an option" for hot mic so you can talk to the other team when you die.
Others are having fun with the Valorant hot mic bug though, albeit unintentionally, prompting Valorant pro player EG Ethan to tweet "The Valorant hot mic bug is the best thing that’s ever been added. Endless entertainment every game."
Streamer tokibbi falls under that bracket, spending a good 20 seconds breaking down what a hush cut (or wolf cut) is for her entire Valorant team.
Visibly embarrassed, she plays it off as talking to her little sister on Facetime, but the jig was up. "PLEASE VALORANT the hot mic bug keeps happening I was explaining to a group of men what my haircut is for 20 seconds bro," she tweeted out alongside the clip.
Riot Games hasn't acknowledged of addressed the Valorant hot mic bug yet, but the developer is usually pretty speedy at dispatching hotfixes, so make the most of these shenanigans while you can.
