BBC Breakfast’ s Nina Warhurst has shared her heartbreak over losing three loved ones in the space of just a few months.

The 42-year-old presenter, who is currently pregnant with her third child, took to Instagram on Saturday to reveal she had said “three goodbyes” to people she “loved very much”, and sweetly shared a snap from the emotional day with her followers.

Nina, who has been a presenter on the BBC show since 2008, uploaded the photo which shows her posing alongside three of her mum and sisters at a memorial service.

She told her 21,000 followers that the service, which was dubbed a “memorial celebration”, took place on a beautiful sunny day in Bath, and guests were told they had been banned from wearing black.

“With my Mum sisters at a memorial celebration yesterday (‘no black please’) We’ve said three big goodbyes in the last few months to people we loved very much,” Nina wrote.

“And they loved us since we were kids - guided us, made us laugh, helped us feel safe. It’s been bruising having a run of grief, but made me appreciative of the support you get from the special elders of your extended village - whatever that is and whoever they are,” she continued.

In the picture, Nina can be seen beaming alongside her mum and sisters, wearing a colourful spotted dress with her baby bump on show.

But the journalist insisted the day was a celebration, and said they had focused on making sure their goodbyes to loved ones were “full of gratitude”.

“We’ve also celebrated! It’s made me realise that lots of the tears are because the right farewells are full of gratitude and are something beautiful,” she explained.

She ended the post by cheekily making fun of her relatives, who had misunderstood the invitation.

“A reflection of our clan; when the wake invite said ‘Carriages at 6pm,’ two of my aunties thought ‘Carriages’ was a hot venue in Bath for an after party. Yes Andrea and Jayne!” Nina joked.

Her sister Amy, who was tagged in the photo, commented: “Beautiful post. Made me cry.”

Nina shared the exciting news she was expecting her third child with her husband Ted on Mother’s Day and posted a snap of her posing in front of the BBC Breakfast sofa with her bump on show.

“It’s been a funky few months… involving intense migraines, vomiting, morning kebabs, first-time acne, small acts of violence against fruit, afternoon kebabs, tears, spontaneous snoozes, anxiety and more kebabs,” Nina wrote.

“I am settling in to the middle chunk (emphasis on chunk) and enjoying the wonders of Mother Nature and her tiny kicks and flutters,” she added, before revealing her due date was “this summer”.
