Arteta told to seal transfer while Arsenal ace linked with Serie A switch
The dust has now settled on Arsenal's 2022/23 Premier League season and while the Gunners can be immensely proud of pushing Manchester City so far, Mikel Arteta will be desperate to go one better next term.
Arsenal are aiming to go to the next level and end their nearly two-decade-long wait for a Premier League title next season, but to do so will have to seriously strengthen. While the Gunners could field a starting eleven worthy of winning silverware, their end of season collapse proved they didn't have the depth.
In turn, Arteta is hopeful of getting as many of his first-choice targets as possible and getting the deals wrapped up early so that each arrival has enough time to settle in to life at London Colney.
With that in mind, here are the latest headlines emerging out of the Emirates on Friday, June 2.
Arteta urged to sign Bundesliga star
Ex-Gunners defender Johan Djourou has encouraged Arteta to sign Bayer Leverkusen ace Moussa Diaby to ensure Arsenal's current crop of attacking talent don't rest on their laurels.
Chelsea complete record-breaking Enzo Fernandez transfer after deadline day rushCommenting on his old side's reported interest in the Leverkusen star, Djourou told mybettingsites : "For me, competition is the be-all and end-all, so I would welcome a new arrival in that position.
"Just look at Manchester City: At the moment, top players like Phil Foden or Riyad Mahrez are always on the bench, while Jack Grealish is an integral part of the starting eleven because he performs really well.
"A well-balanced squad is eminently important to strengthen the cohesion and to make sure that every player questions himself again and again."

Napoli want Arsenal ace
Napoli are ready to battle AC Milan for Arsenal prospect Folarin Balogun over the course of the summer transfer window.
It is believed that Napoli are becoming resigned to the fact that the in-demand Victor Osimhen will depart sooner rather than later and a replacement will be required.
The Gunners are willing to sanction Balogun's permanent departure given how unlikely it is that he'll force his way into the Arsenal first-team in front of Gabriel Jesus. The 21-year-old enjoyed a sensational loan spell at Stade Reims and that has provided the Gunners with the chance to demand at least £30m before giving his exit the green light.

Skipper is not for sale
Martin Odegaard was arguably Arsenal's most impressive perfomer last season, with a stunning 15 league goals to his name while operating from midfield.
It's that kind of form that has made Paris Saint-Germain sit up and take notice. The French giants and reigning Ligue 1 champions are thought to be keen on the Norwegian, but Arsenal are in no mood to let Odegaard go anywhere.
Everton chiefs face transfer backlash from fans after deadline day disasterThe Evening Standard report that the Gunners are now aiming to try and tie their captain down to a new long-term deal, following in the footsteps of Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli, Aaron Ramsdale and Bukayo Saka, who all recently extended.
