American singer and television host Kelly Clarkson has addressed why she has decided to move her beloved daytime show across the country - as well as her family.

Kelly, 41, has spoken out about why she and The Kelly Clarkson Show are moving to the East Coast, with the American Idol alum citing a "fresh start" as one of the reasons for the move.

Speaking to Nancy O'Dell on TalkShopLive, the singing sensation spoke of how she felt isolated and needed a change - hence uprooting the show.

"It's either I'm not going to be able to continue with the show, or I got to go like East Coast," she revealed she told her team.

"My family is from the East Coast, they're North Carolina based, so it was one of those things where... me and my kids really just needed a fresh start."

"It was really cool that NBC backed me," she went on, adding: "because I was like 'Y'all, I love doing this show, I really do, I didn't even know I would,' but I was like, 'I gotta make a change for me and my family.'."

Kelly, her family and her beloved programme The Kelly Clarkson Show will move from Los Angeles to New York.

The show, which was originally filmed at the Universal Los Angeles lot, will be filmed in the NBC Studios at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City - commencing this fall.

Kelly addressing the reasons behind moving from LA to New York come mere weeks after Rolling Stone released a report after they spoke with 10 former employees from Kelly's show who claimed that their jobs had taken a toll on their mental health.

The employees claimed that they were underpaid, overworked and ended up with poor mental health as a result of working on the hit programme.

All of the whistle blowers were said to be "confident" that host Kelly was not aware of the working conditions, with the American Idol star confirming that soon after.

Sharing a statement on Instagram the day after the report hit the headlines, Kelly wrote: "In my 20 years in the entertainment industry, I've always led with my heart and what I believed to be right.

"I love my team at 'The Kelly Clarkson Show' and to find out anyone is feeling unheard and or disrespected on this show is unacceptable."

She then spoke about how she has always been "committed to creating and maintaining a safe and healthy environment" at the show.

Kelly added: "As we prepare for a move to the East Coast, I am more committed than ever to ensuring that not only our team that is moving, but also our new team in NY, is comprised of the best and kindest in the business."

"Part of that build will include leadership training for all of the senior staff, including myself," she urged.
