King Charles has paid a regal tribute to Tina Turner in the sweetest way, with the guards at Buckingham Palace playing one of the late singer's best-loved hits.

The newly crowned monarch, who celebrated his coronation earlier this month, has paid tribute to the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Tina Turner's death was announced last week, with the 83-year-old passing away of natural causes in her homeland of Switzerland.

Reports say that the King allowed the Band of the Welsh Guards to perform her 1989 hit The Best during the changing of the guard last week, with a video shared by Forces News.

In videos posted by the outlet and on social media, onlookers appeared overjoyed when they witnessed the Welsh Guards performing The Best in front of Buckingham Palace on Friday.

Reports say that alongside the Welsh Guards were the First Battalion Welsh Guards Corps of Drums.

Twitter users went wild after Forces News shared a video on the platform, with many incredibly moved by the sweet tribute.

"Brought a tear to my eyes … lovely tribute to a legend," penned one.

While another said: "Love the tribute - love the fact they were applauded at the end!"

And a third added: "A fantastic musical tribute here to the late, great Tina Turner. I was talking about the Royal family’s affection for Tina Turner earlier this week and here we have the @WelshGuardsBand playing her hit The Best at the palace."

The King, 74, met Tina back in 1986 when the iconic performer crooned her best-loved hits at an event for the then-Prince's charity The Prince's Trust.

Tina performed at Wembley Stadium for the Prince's Trust All-Star Rock Concert, which took place on June 20 in 1986, and featured a whole host of other stars.

Paul McCartney also performed at the star-studded concert, which was in celebration of The Prince's Trust's 10th birthday.

The singer was born in Tennessee but was a Swiss citizen after uprooting her life and moving to the country with her husband.

She died peacefully at her home near Zurich, Switzerland, with a spokesperson for the star confirming: "With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.

"With her music and her inexhaustible vitality, Tina Turner thrilled millions of fans and inspired many artists of subsequent generations."

It was revealed shortly after her passing that she died of "natural causes", but had been battling high blood pressure and kidney failure behind the scenes.
