Anthony Joshua has yet to receive a contract from Tyson Fury despite his rival's claim according to promoter Eddie Hearn.

Joshua recently made his return to the ring in April in a points win over Jermaine Franklin, and has now entered talks over December Saudi Arabia clash with Deontay Wilder. It was unclear whether 'AJ' would compete this summer, with Dillian Whyte expected to be the front runner if he elected to make a new bow.

However yesterday, reports broke that indicated Fury was back in talks for a September showdown with Joshua having been unable to find himself an opponent for his own summer date. He then took to social media to confirm the news, writing: "Few days ago i sent a draft contract to @anthonyjoshua for a fight in September @wembleystadium.

"It's a fight that everyone wants to see including myself. Come on AJ let's give the world what they want to see." However Joshua's promoter Hearn has suggested that contact was made by the WBC champion's promoter George Warren but Joshua is uncertain whether any interest is genuine.

“There’s definitely no contract. His team have not sent any contract to us or Anthony Joshua. So I’m not sure what he’s talking about there," he told Boxing Social. "George Warren did email on Wednesday saying that they’d be interested to look at the fight for September. I then called him, we had a chat, explained the situation.

"We’re negotiating for the Deontay Wilder fight. We’re waiting on a finalised offer. We’re fighting in August. But, of course the Tyson Fury fight is a fight that we love. It’s a big fight. When I talked to AJ last night he says ‘isn’t he fighting that Jai Opetaia or Demsey McKean? His next fight’s in Australia isn’t it?’ From AJ’s point of view he’s fighting in August and then December. If that falls apart he’ll definitely look at the Tyson Fury fight, but he doesn’t take him seriously.”

Fury is currently in Australia and both McKean and Opetaia's camp had claimed the pair were both in talks over a fight down under this summer. But new interest in a fight with Joshua could be reignited from both sides if a deal can be reached, despite Joshua's intentions to fight the 'Bronze Bomber' this winter.

And the former two-time heavyweight champion admitted he wants to step in the ring with the 'Gypsy King' before the end of their careers. He said: “Save all that s***. If we’ll f***ing fight, let’s go. Shut the f*** up and that’s just how I feel because I got to save my energy for the fight.

“I’ll be real, I’ll be real. I respect the man. He’s achieved a lot. I just feel I don’t need to trash talk, verbally trash talk someone to make myself feel better. “You are not going beat Tyson Fury in a verbal contest."
