Rob Burrow says he could be in for a bumpy ride this Father’s Day as his kids push him along a junior run route.

The rugby league legend will be joined by wife Lindsey and children Macy, 11, Maya, seven, and Jackson, three, for the 10K run.

Rob, 40, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease four years ago, raised more than £4million for MND charities at last month’s inaugural Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon.

He was carried over the finish line by his ex-Leeds Rhinos teammate, Kevin Sinfield.

Revealing his participation in the 10K Jane Tomlinson run in Leeds on June 18, Rob said: “I’m looking forward to my kids pushing me round. It might be a bumpy ride.”

Daughter Macy said: “I am super-duper proud of my dad.”

Announcing the news on BBC Radio Leeds, Mrs Burrow, who raised almost £100,000 for charity earlier this month after running the first Leeds Marathon in 20 years, said: “I think it will be great to get the whole Burrow family involved.”

She said she hoped the money she had raised towards the planned Rob Burrow MND Centre would make a “big difference” to families affected by the condition.
