These images show the devastating fire raging through a mountain in Wales , with firefighters battling the blaze overnight.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service scrambled to Cwm Mountain near Llandudno at 7.37pm yesterday to put out a fire.

As of 1.30pm today, crews were still tackling the raging fire as residents were told to close their doors and windows due to smoke.

It is thought the fire has engulfed at least 300 square feet.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage - with firefighters believed to still be battling the blaze.

Bright orange plumes of fire can also be seen burning through the shrubbery.

A message from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service earlier this morning said: "Firefighters are currently dealing with a fire on Cwm Mountain #Llandudno, Conwy, which is causing smoke in the area.

"Residents are advised to close windows and doors whilst we deal with this incident."

Another message from the fire service later said: "We are still in attendance at the fire on Cwm Mountain #Llandudno, affecting 300 square metres of gorse.

"Thanks to everyone who has called to notify us - please be reassured that we are aware and are dealing with the fire."

Smoke could be seen billowing out from the mountainside from the nearby Maesdu Golf Course, NorthWalesLive reports.

Fire service chiefs also urged people to follow Dawns Glaw's safety messages to help eliminate fires in the open.

The Mirror contacted North Wales Fire and Rescue Service for any further updates.
